Gwendolyn McDevitt DeWITT, Iowa --- Gwendolyn McDevitt, 84 of DeWitt, Iowa, died on Monday, August 25, 2008, at West Wing Place in DeWitt, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, DeWitt, Iowa. Burial will be in Villa Nova Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa, with a prayer service held by Sister Theresa Ann Spitz at 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be Derek Olson, Mitchell McDevitt, Baird Smith, Alan Kagemann, Steve Kedley, and Merlin McKillip. Memorials may go to West Wing Place or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Gwendolyn (Harper) McDevitt was born in Clinton, Iowa, on September 1, 1923, the daughter of Harry and Agnes Hanrahan Harper. She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she married Lawlor McDevitt on September 16, 1942. She was employed for Dayton Howe, DeWitt, Iowa, as a clerk. Those left behind to honor her memory is her husband, Lawlor, DeWitt, Iowa; a son, James and his wife Tammy, DeWitt, Iowa; grandchildren, Mark and Colleen McDevitt, DeWitt, Iowa, and Kristi Lynn Wolfe and her husband Don Wolfe, of Maynard, Iowa; and her grandchildren, Derek Olson, Emilie Lynn Wolfe, Mitchell and Kyle McDevitt and Jenna Wolfe.
