Paul McDevitt Dies Suddenly In His Home Paul J. McDevitt, 49, died suddenly in his home on Rt. 2, De Witt Thursday, July 30. A family prayer service was conducted on Saturday in Hanrahan Funeral Home. This was followed by Mass in St. Patrick's Catholic church , Villa Nova, with Rev. Bernard Brugmann officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim McDevitt, Wayne, David, Allan, Bill and Ed Kagemann. Mr. McDevitt, son of Harry and Blanche McGarry McDevitt, was born at DeWitt, January 25, 1915. He and Rosemary Driscoll were married February 10, 1947. She preceded him in death in 1961. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra at home; two sons, Michael and Joseph, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Kagemann, Calamus, and Mrs. Mary Fletcher, Lakeside, Ariz. and a brother, Lawlor McDevitt of DeWitt. Relatives and friends attended the funeral from Rockford, Ill., Tucson, Ariz., Des Moines, Clinton, Preston, Davenport, and the DeWitt area. 1964 From a newspaper clipping, paper not identified. Deaths DeWitt Mrs. Paul McDevitt Mrs. Paul McDevitt, 47, of rural DeWitt, died about 12:30 a.m. today at the University Hospitals in Iowa City, following a long illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick's Church at Villa Nova. The Rev. John Kennedy will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Hanrahan funeral home in DeWitt after 7:30 p.m. today. the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. She was born June 8, 1914 in Waterford Township, the daughter of Michael and Agnes Sullivan Driscoll. Feb. 10, 1947 she married Paul McDevitt in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Maquoketa. Surviving are the husband; one daughter, Sandra and two sons, Michael and Joseph, all at home; and one sister, Mrs. Regina Driscoll of Maquoketa. She was preceded by her parents and two sons.
