Bernice McGarry DeWITT, Iowa -- Services for Bernice A. McGarry, of DeWitt, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Villa Nova. Burial will be in the church's cemetery. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. McGarry died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. She had been a homemaker. Bernice Shea was born Dec. 30, 1913, in DeWitt, to John and Katherine (Judge) Shea. She married Leonard McGarry on June 21, 1934, in DeWitt. He died March 7, 1975. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, DeWitt. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Villa Nova; and the Altar and Rosary Society. Her interests included gardening and reading. She devoted her life to her family and faith. Memorials may be made to the family in lieu of flowers. Survivors include daughters, Kay (Mrs. Dick) Lincoln, DeWitt, Judy (Mrs. David) Fletcher, DeWitt, Leona (Mrs. Jim) Seifert, Donahue, Helen (Mrs. Tom) Medlin, Princeton, N.C., and Paulette (Mrs. David) Frank, Port Angeles, Wash.; sons and daughter-in-law, Dick and Betty McGarry, DeWitt, Paul McGarry, DeWitt, Steve McGarry, DeWitt, John McGarry, Sabula, and James McGarry, Prescott, Ariz.; 35 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Maher, Rochester, Minn.
