Death of Business Man is Deplored William V. Lawlor One of the Best Known Men in the City. Funeral Will Be Held From the family Home Tomorrow. Leaves Wife and Family. General regret was expressed yesterday over the death of William V. Lawlor, on of Butte's best known business men, who succumbed early yesterday morning after a short illness of intestinal trouble. The majority of his friends did not know that he was ill, he having only gone to the hospital a few days ago. Mr. Lawlor was born 54 years ago near Center Grove, Ia., and came from there to Butte during the '80s. For five years he a J.D. Slemons were partners in the real estate business and did well until Mr. Lawlor's wife became ill and he went to Los Angeles to live. She died there and later he removed to Seattle, where he entered the banking business with Benjaimn[sic] White. From there he returned to Butte and entered the realty field with J. H. Rowe. Later he joined interests with Mr. Rowe and J. T. O'Brien and upon the latter's retirement from business the firm became Lawlor & Rowe. He was possessed of great business ability and acquired considerable wealth in Butte. Mr. Lawlor was twice married and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. Mr. Lawlor and son William are in this city. Reed is studying law in Los Angeles and Edward and Margaret are attending school in southern California. Mr. Lawlor was a member of the Butte council of the Knights of Columbus, under whose auspices the funeral will be held from the family home, 701 West Galena street, Friday morning at 9:00 o'clock, proceeding thence to St. Patrick's church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated. [cut off after this] Butte Montana Daily Miner Thursday, November 24, 1910, page 6. Mrs. Lawlor, 93, Dies on Coast Mrs. Elizabeth F. Lawlor, widow of William B. Lawlor, died in Los Angeles Tuesday. She was 93. Mr. Lawlor was one of the founders of the Butte firm of Lawlor and Rowe. Mrs. Lawlor had resided in the coast city since 1926. Born in DeWitt, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret Clary McElhatton, she came to Butte in 1907 and was married here to Mr. Lawlor. The remains will be sent to Butte and upon arrival Wednesday, April 25, there will be graveside services at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Cemetery with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. M. M. English officiating. Richards Funeral Home will be in charge. Mass will be celebrated next Monday morning in Our Mother of Good Council Church, Hollywood. Rosary services will be held in Goddau-Martinoni Funeral Home, Los Angeles, Sunday night at 7 o'clock. Mrs. Lawlor is survived by a stepson, William Vincent Lawlor, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Margaret Cooper, both of Los Angeles.
