George Lucey George Lucey, 86 of Carroll died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday March 17 at St. Anthony Hospital after several years of illness. A Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Church by the Very Rev. Leo Lenz, V. F. with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of Sharp Funeral Home of Carroll, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday. The Charles Carroll Council, Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday; another rosary will follow at 8:45. Mr. Lucey had worked at the Kisgen Cigar store for many years, and for 16 years served on the Carroll County Selective Service board. He was born at Kirkman, Ia March 10, 1884, a son of Jeremiah and Katherine McAndrews Lucey. At the age of six he moved with his parents to Vail, and later to Merrill, He was married to Clara Kemp at St. Joseph's church in LeMars On May 3, 1916 by the late Rev. F. X. Feursteen: and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in May, 1966. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lucey moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, living there two years and then returning to Iowa. They moved to Carroll in 1938. Mr. Lucey was a member of Holy Spirit Church, a member and past grand knight of the Charles Carroll Council K of C and a member and past faithful navigator of the Fourth Degree K of C. He is survived by a son, Robert E. Lucey, of Tacoma, Wash: four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Genevieve) Rauch of Lake View, Mrs. Kathleen Walden of Carroll, Mrs. John (Joan) Carlton of Balboa, Ca., Alberta Lucey of Denver Colo.: also 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Philip and Marquette Lucey, both of Sioux City, and a sister, Mrs. Florence Lambert, of LeMars. Preceding him in death were his wife on July 19, 1969, a daughter Rosemary Lucey: two brothers and two sisters. Clara Lucey Mrs. Clara Lucey, 82, wife of George Lucey of Carroll did at 1:50 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's hospital, where she had been a patient the past six weeks. She had been in failing health for two years. Requiem mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, from St. Joseph's church, with the Very Rev. Leo Lenz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Sharp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Sunday, and on Monday by the Legion of Mary at 3 p.m.: C.D. of A. at 8 p.m. and at 8:45. Mrs. Lucey was a member of the Holy Spirit parish, the Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was born March 26, 1887 at LeMars, the daughter of Mathias and Josephine Kemp. Her younger years were spent in LeMars, until May 3, 1916 when she was married to George Lucey at St. Joseph's church there. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in May, 1966 After their marriage they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah , later returning to Iowa to farm in Plymouth county until 1932: then moving to Auburn where they operated a restaurant, and later in 1939 to Carroll. She is survived by her husband, George, the following sons and daughters, Robert E. Lucey, of Tacoma, Wash: four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Genevieve) Rauch of Lake View, Mrs. Kathleen Walden of Carroll, Mrs. John (Joan) Carlton of Balboa, Ca., Alberta Lucey of Denver Colo.: also 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Mae Lieb, Austin, Minn. and Mrs. Nick Goetzinger, Oyens, Ia..
