The following items are news items except the last and it is an obit. John J. Lucey The remains of Mr. John J. Lucy, who passed away at his home in Sutherland, Nebraska, Monday, June 23rd, were brought to Vail Thursday on No. 32 and taken immediately to St. Ann's church, where funeral services were held, with interment in St. Ann's cemetery. Mr. Lucy was about 70 years of age and had been a resident of this county until a few years ago when they moved to Nebraska. His death was caused by pneumonia. The body was accompanied to Vail by his wife and two sons. The sympathy of their many Vail friends is extended to the bereaved ones. Mrs. John Lawler, of Jackson township was calling on Vail friends last Thursday. Mrs. Ed. Lucey, of Carroll, was here Thursday to attend the funeral of her brother-in-law, John Lucey. Vail news items in The Denison Review Wednesday July 2, 1913 John Lucey Jr. John Lucy Jr., a former well known resident of Crawford County, died at his home at Sutherland, Neb., Saturday, April 12. The remains were brought to Vail this (Monday) morning on No. 32 and taken to St. Ann's church, where the funeral services were held. But few details of Mr. Lucy's death were obtainable this morning. The deceased was about 40 years of age, and was the eldest son of Mr. And Mrs. John Lucy, formerly of Jackson township, this county. He is survived by his parents and several grown brothers. Interment was, made in St. Ann's cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of their many Vail friends in this, there hour of sadness. Mrs. Jeremiah Lucy, of Merrill, was her the first of the week to attend the funeral of the late John Lucey. Vail news items in the Denison Review, Wednesday, April 16, 1913 Leo J. Lucey The funeral of Leo J. Lucey, 68, of Denver, Colo., was held at St. Ann's church in Vail at 9 o'clock last Monday morning, Rev Father D. L. Clark celebrating a requiem mass and conducting the service. Pallbearers were James, Michael and Martin O'Connell, Frank Sheridan, Clair Dunn and James Kerrigan. The deceased was born at Boone June 21, 1880. In 1884 the family came to Crawford county and he resided on a farm in Jackson township until 1906 when they moved to Nebraska. For the past 30 years he had resided in Denver where he died Sept. 3 following a long illness. Burial was beside his parents in the family plot in St. Ann's cemetery in Vail.
