OBITUARY FOR COLUMBUS H. COSBY C. H. Crosby died at St. Elizabeth hospital yesterday morning. His death was caused by Tumor of the Brain. The disease developed about a year ago and he was prostrated in Chicago before being brought to this city. He was brought to the hospital on April 4. The deceased was 43 years old and had resided at different times in Colfax and Battle Ground. He and his wife had given up housekeeping at Battle Ground and were on their way to Illinois at the time that Mr. Crosby was taken sick in Chicago. The remains were removed to Folekemer's Undertaking Parlors and the funeral will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM, from the Stockwell Methodist church. Interment in Conroe Cemetery. Burial will be at Highland Memory gardens. Mrs. Bravener, who had lived here 17 years, died Friday of a heart ailment at her home, 1331 Des Moines St. A native of Indiana, Mrs. Bravener formerly operated the Dinner Plate cafe at E. Fourteenth and Walker streets. She formerly lived at Fredricksburg, where she was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence W. Cosby, Des Moines, and Silas O. Cosby Martha was born November 11, 1902 in Fayette County, Iowa the daughter of Otto and Anna Marie (Tolzman) Blaschke. She married Lawrence Cosby on Oct. 12, 1923 in Sumner, Iowa. He preceded her in death in December 1977. Martha died Saturday afternoon, December 22, 1979 at Schoitz Hospital, Waterloo at the age of 77 years. She is survived by two sons, Lorimer, Waterloo, and Hilmer L. (Pete), Cedar Falls; three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Joan) Buchholz, Nashua, Mrs. Beverly Kane, Waterloo, and Mrs. Verdena Morris, Waterloo; two brothers, Herbert and Hilmer Blaschke, both of Sumner; five sisters, Mrs. Virgil (Edna) Wenger, Fairbank, Mrs. Vernon (Helen) Gonnerman, Sumner, Mrs. Alice Westendorf, California, and Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Oswald, Dubuque; twenty-nine grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Blaschke Dies Thursday At Her Sumner Home Funeral Services Held Monday for 50-year-old Sumner Women Funeral services for Mrs. Herbert Blaschke, 50, who died Thursday, June 27 at her home here, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sumner Funeral Chapel and at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church. The pastor, Rev. E. M. Miller, officiated at the services and burial was in the Zion Cemetery near Sumner. Mae (Cosby) Blaschke, daughter of William and Nellie Cosby, was born Dec. 11, 1906 at Zionville, Ind. When still a child, she moved with her parents to the vicinity of Fredericksburg, Ia. and there she grew to womanhood. On Oct. 12, 1924, she was united in marriage with Herbert Blaschke and to this union four sons were born. Mr. and Mrs. Blaschke lived near Fredericksburg until 1931 when they moved to Minnesota. They lived there for nine years, returning to Iowa and to Sumner in 1940, where they have since made their home. At the time of her death, Mrs. Blaschke had reached the age of 50 years, six months and 16 days. Mourning her death are her husband; four sons, Harold of Oelwein, Arthur of Sumner, LaVerne of Elkhart, Ind., and Orville, stationed with the U.S. Air Force at Lincoln, Neb. Franzen at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church in Sumner and later became a member of the church on February 18, 1919. He received his education in rural schools in the Sumner area. On October 12, 1924, he was united in marriage with Mae Cosby at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. Four sons were born to this union: Harold, Arthur, Orville and LaVerne. Mae's death occurred in June of 1957. On May 31, 1959, Herbert married Katherine Aylsworth at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church. Mr. Blaschke had been a self-employed truck driver for most of his working life. In his later years he and his wife were engaged in the making and restoring of harness equipment. Mr. Blaschke entered Allen Memorial Hospital this past Monday, and on Wednesday evening, November 15, 1989, he died at the hospital following a brief illness. He was 85 years old and a member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner.
