Mother of Lawrence Savage Passes Away at Aurora, Nebraska Mrs. Rose Savage, mother of Lawrence Savage, manager of the local Safeway Store, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Linton, at Aurora, Nebr., last Friday evening. The message telling of the death was received here that night. The deceased was 83 years of age. Death was due to complications attendant to advanced years, Mrs. Savage having been in failing health for several years, and critically ill for ten days preceding her demise. Funeral services were conducted at Wilbur, Nebr., Sunday afternoon; where interment was made alongside the grave of her husband who preceded her 18 years ago. Surviving besides the son and daughter above mentioned are three other daughters, Miss Carrie Savage of Aurora, Nebr., Mrs. J. L. Grim of Gering, Nebr., and Mrs. T. J. Littrell of Concordia, Kans. All of the children were present for the last rites, Mr. Savage returning home Monday. He was born July 25, 1908 in Wilber, NE, a son of Edward J. and Rose (Chiszum) Savage. He was raised In Nebraska and attended public schools there. He also attended Crete Business College in Crete, NE. Mr. Savage married Aimee Jones in Harrisburg, NE, June 29, 1929. They were married for 69 years. At the age of 22, Mr. and Mrs. Savage moved to Wyoming. He was employed by Safeway and managed the Lusk Safeway store from 1940 - 1951. He retired from Safeway after 36 years of dedication to the supermarket corporation. Mr. Savage had many hobbies and interests. He was considered an outdoor enthusiast for his love of fishing and his time spent at the family cabin in the Snowy Range Mountains. He was also a University of Wyoming sports fan. He held season tickets for the university athletics for over 45 years. Trains were also a favorite hobby and interest for him. But he will be remembered for his photographs of scenic places and vacations with the family. However, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were one of his greatest loves. Mr. Savage was a member of many clubs, organizations and services for the Laramie community. He belonged to the Masonic Temple Association, Lions Club and Shriners. In 1992 he was awarded the UW Athletics outstanding booster award. He was also a member of the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Aimee; two children, Beverly Cates, Fort Collins, CO and Kale Savage, Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Linda Dudley, Denver, Lana Rucker, Littleton, CO and Gary Cates, Fort Collins; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Rucker, Littleton and Adrien Dudley, Denver. Funeral services were September 9 at the Buck-Heggie Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Jackson officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery. Casketbearers were members of Masonic Lodges 3 and 32. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Savage of this city were called to Gering, Nebr., after receiving word of the death of the former's brother-in-law, Lee Grimm, 66. Lee Grimm, who had been an attorney for Scottsbluff County, died last Monday following a heart attack. He had been in failing health for the past few years. Again, how is Fanny a dau. of Rose? Evelyn Louise Grimm Schlumberger Born in Emerson, Nebraska on Jul. 7, 1912 Departed on Jun. 11, 2008 and resided in Durango, CO. Evelyn Louise Grimm Schlumberger, 95, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango, Colorado. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Mrs. Schlumberger was born July 07, 1912 in Emerson, Nebraska the daughter of George and Lydia Haase. She graduated from Emerson High, spent two years at Midland College in Fremont, Nebraska, and then graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School. While at the University, she met her first husband, Hayes Grimm over a dead cat!! They were married February 1, 1936. Hayes set up his medical practice in Sidney, Nebraska, where they adopted and raised two girls, Cindy and Georgia. Evelyn lost Hayes in 1956. She remained in Sidney raising her girls. When they were both in college, Evelyn too returned to college, getting a degree in Guidance and Counseling. She then moved to Yuma, Arizona as Dean of Women at Arizona Western College. On a trip back to Sidney, she became reacquainted with Carl Schlumberger and they were married August 14, 1970. Carl was a practicing dentist, so they traveled between Fremont, Nebraska and Yuma until he retired. Carl passed away in 1988. Evelyn moved to Durango in the spring of 1989 where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Chapter PEO Sisterhood.
