Louisa Green Born May 18, 1841 11. Ibby Evaline Green Born Nov. 12, 1843 Rans Bird Green, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Green, was born in North Carolina, Feb. 25, 1792. He was named for his maternal grandmother. Her maiden name was Ransbird. His parents came to Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky. He was raised there. He was of medium height, of strong build, had blue black hair, black or hazel eyes, fair skin and sandy beard. He came to Indiana when he was quite a young man, while it was yet a territory and took an active part, even made stump speeches to secure a free constitution for the state. He was a strong abolitionist, voted so where only 2 or 3 votes were cast in the county. He was always ready to lend a hand to an underground railway. He was a farmer and cultivated fruit trees. He was first a Baptist but in the early days of the reformation in Fayette County when John O'Lane preached there, he came into the Christian Church. He was very fond of children. He was a man of chaste language and would be angry if any one used a vulgar words in his presence. He and his wife were very hospitable. Often they would have 2 to 4 orphans in their home. Rans Bird Green did April 2, 1853 at Greenswood, Indiana. He was killed by a train. Ruth Morgan was born March 8, 1800 in Green County, Tenn. Her father, Amaziah was a member of the Kentucky legislature. Her eldest brother, General A. Morgan was in the state senate of Indiana for four years. Her next brother, Reverend Lewis Morgan, was a prominent man in the missionary Church. He was also a member of the Indiana legislature. General Thomas J. Morgan was her nephew. She was a grand niece of General Daniel Morgan of Revolutionary fame. Her parents moved to Somerset, Kentucky when she was a baby. She was of medium build, small hands and feet, a good form, black hair and sparkling black eyes. She was a home lady, loving mother, intelligent, and devoted Christian. Rans Bird Green and Ruth Morgan were married Oct. 5, 1817. Reverend Joel Matthews officiating near Somerset, Kentucky. Reverend Matthews being Rans Bird Green's uncle. Rans Bird Green was 25 years old and Ruth Morgan was 17 when they married. Ruth Morgan Green died Sept. 2, 1849. Rans Bird Green died April 2, 1853. They are buried in a cemetery at Fairland, Shelby County, Indiana. They were married Feb. 5, 1817. Two of Ruth Morgan Green's ancestors were Louis (Lewis) Morgan born in Virginia in 1728.
