Opal C. Walling MOORELAND - A graveside service for Opal Catherine Walling, 96, will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Mooreland Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Veal will officiate. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home. She was born Aug. 6, 1905, near Curtis to William Riley and Nora Ellen Matthews, Phye and died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002. She attended school at Hawkeye and Mooreland. On Sept. 12, 1921, she married Charles Arthur Walling in Woodward. In 1962, she began work as a housekeeper for Mooreland Community Hospital, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Triple M. Club, First Christian Church and Mooreland American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are one brother, Frank Phye; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and four brothers. Memorials may be made to the church's building fund. He was born July 19, 1925, at Belmont, N.C., son of Harmen and Lula McEwain Rhyne. A longtime resident of Medicine Lodge, he was employed by the city of Medicine Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include: his wife, Betty Rhyne, Cunningham; nephew, Lenny and wife Kathy Rhyne, Gastonia, N.C. Private family services will be held in North Carolina. Cremation has taken place.
