	    Will of Obadiah Mathews, dated 16 April 1836.

Know all men by these presents that I Obadiah Mathews of the county of
Rush and State of Indiana being of sound mind and memory and perfect
meaning but weak in body do make and ordain and publish this my last
will and testament first I will

that my body be decently buried and all my just debts paid secondly I
will to my beloved wife Elizabeth all and singular my personal Estate
during her natural life or widowhood and at her death to decend in
Equal parts to all my children to wit Maria Lucy William Sarah Isam
Irley Juliann Grieff I also will to my wife all my real Estate thirty
acres of land being the same that I now reside on in Rush County it
being a part of section thirty four of Township fourteen of Range ten
east in the district of Brookville to have and to hold and possess the
same so long as she is a widow in case she should intermarry marry
with a nother person My will is that she is intitled to one third part
of the rents and profits of the real Estate afore said during her
natural life the other two thirds I will to my son and daughter Namely
Juliann and Grief Mathews Allso I will that after the death of my wife
for Grief to hold in fee simple all the above described land I thereby
appoint Amaziah Morgan and Elizah Lewark my Executors of this my last
and testament and it is further my will that no other family except my
wife and single chilren shall be permited to reside on the premises
hereby Devised during the Widowhood of sd wife I hereby revoke all
other wills by me made whereby I have hereunto set my hand this

fr Be it Remembered That on the 21sth day of April AD 1837 personally
came McCormac Zion and Presly Glasgo the above named witnesses before
me Robert Thompson clerk of the Rush Circuit court and after being by
me duly sworn did depose and say that they saw the above named Obadiah
Mathews sign and seal the foregoing instrument and heard him the said
Obadiah declare the same to be his last will and testament and these
affiants further on their oath say they believe the said Obadiah
Mathews at the time of the signing thereof was sound in mind and
memory and able to dispose of property and that these affiants
subscribed their names thereto as witness at the request and in the
presence of said Obadiah and in the presence of each other and further
say the above instrument and correct to the best of their Knowledge
and belief
