WALTER M. KENLEY Walter McClusky Kenley of 1323 S. San Antonio Ave. passed away at the family home at 10:15 a.m. today after a long period of failing health. Mr. Kenley was born Nov. 14, 1874, in Clay City, Ill. He came to California from Esmond, S.D., in 1919 and since then had resided in Pomona. Besides his wife, Mrs. Bertha M. Kenley, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. A. W. Nielson of Ontario; two sisters, Mrs. Myrl R. Holly of Cincinnati, O., and Mrs. Irene Stopkotte of Edwardsville, Ill.; four nephews, Ray Karr of Compton, Erv Karr of Los Angeles, Kenneth Karr of Pacoima, and Harry Karr of San Fernando; and a niece, Mrs. Tom Lance of North Hollywood. Funeral services will be held in Todd Memorial North Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Ballard Pearson, pastor of Philadelphia Street Methodist Church, will officiate. Mrs. Nielson was born Jan. 24, 1911, in Esmond, S.D. She was a nine-year county resident, coming from Pomona. She is survived by husband August; son Taylor Daniel of Ventura; grandsons Dennis Daniel and Greg Daniel; and great-granddaughter Jennifer Ann Daniel. Crose, 94, formerly of rural Galesburg, died at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at Chanute Health Care Center. She was in failing health. She was born March 23, 1911, at Huron, S.D., to William Tecumpseh and Isabelle (Bloodgood) Sprague. She was raised in Huron and attended school there. She married the Rev. Boyd B. Crose on May 14, 1943, in Thorp, S.D. He was a minister and teacher at various Indian reservations and the couple lived in those communities. He preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1985. After her husband's death she moved to Galesburg in 1987. She was a member of Galesburg Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and a former member of Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, painting and writing. Survivors include a son, Kendel Crose of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three daughters, Martawn Byers of Bellevue, Neb., Ricki Barbe of Recluse, Wyo., and Cindy Hager of rural Thayer; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Sprague; a sister, Gean Wehtric; and a grandson, Joshua Barbe. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Galesburg Methodist Church with the Rev. Parsons Sun (KS) Date: December 1, 2005 Kendel Boyd Crose CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Kendel Boyd Crose, 63, entered eternal rest of natural causes at his home in Cheyenne, Wyo. The son of Helen Elsie (Sprague) Crose and the Rev. Boyd B. Crose, much to the delight of his parents, arrived on July 19, 1944, in the town of Albert Lea, Minn. He was a birthday gift to his father. Their shared birthday became a special celebrated event of family picnics and angel food cake. He graduated in 1963 from high school at Wood, S.D. He was the senior class vice president. He later received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Denver Metro College. He resided in Cheyenne, Wyo., over 20 years. He enjoyed being a member of the First United Methodist Church, Cheyenne Chess Club and Senior Center Bridge Club. He loved competing in the chess tournaments and bridge games. He had a passion for history, politics, fishing and painting. He treasured family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed senior center trips, family reunions, swapping stories and sharing memories. He never met a stranger. Survivors include three sisters, Martawn Byers and her husband, Alan, of Bellevue, Neb., Ricki Barbe and her husband, Butch, of Recluse, Wyo., and Cindy Hager and her husband, John, of Thayer; three nieces, Angela Byers, Shawna (Barbe) Kennedy and Beth Hager; two nephews, Castle Byers and T.J. Hager; and one great-nephew, Caeldon Kennedy. He was preceded in death by both parents and one nephew, Joshua Barbe. A memorial service was Monday at the First United Methodist with the Rev. Parsons Sun (KS) Date: February 19, 2008 Dorie J. Barbe 1984-2000 Dorie J. "Josh" Barbe, 16, Recluse, Wyo., died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at his home. He was born June 26, 1984, in Denver, Colo., the son of Dorie F. "Butch" and Ricki Crose Barbe. He weighed 1 pound, 14 ounces, at birth. He grew up in Recluse and attended Recluse Elementary School and Twin Spruce Junior High School. He currently was a sophomore at Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyo. He had been active in dog sledding since second grade and also was active in the Yvette Sparks Dance Center. His tap dancing group placed second at the national level finals in Las Vegas. He was a choir member and played trumpet in the band, and was a member of 4-H. He is survived by his parents of Recluse; a sister, Shawntera Kennedy of Laramie, Wyo.; and grandparents Dorie and Adele Barbe of Recluse and Helen Crose of Thayer. His grandfather, Boyde Crose, preceded him in death. Services were at 11 a.m. today at New Life Wesleyan Church, Gillette, with the Rev. Ginny Bettendorf officiating.
