  Obituary: James O. Stookey, 80, of 1519 Arthur Ave. died of complications of
  Alzheimer's disease Friday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's
  Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
  Mr. Stookey was a lifelong Des Moines resident. He was a retired city supervisor in Des
  Moines and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
  Survivors include his wife, Florence; three daughters, Joy Knutson of Austin, Texas, Gaye
  Mann of Lenexa, Kan., and Sandra Johnson of Kailua, Hawaii; nine grandchildren; and six
  great-grandchildren.
  Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be
  present from 6 to 8 p.m.
