This is a poem written by Chartley Boyd Morgan about his family. He gives a birth year for each brother and sister, and a quick description. Posted by Travis Pierce, gg-grandson of Chartley. OUR FAMILY BIRTHS by Chartley Boyd Morgan The Eldest one that is alive Was born in Eighteen forty five The next was born in forty seven But the oldest one had gone to heaven The next was born in forty nine I don't remember just the time I was born in eighteen fifty The unlucky one of all they say Tal was born in fifty two His life was short, but kind and true Now Dick was born in fifty three A very promising boy was he. Now the next one added to this hive was Harry, born in fifty five Fred was born in fifty seven The youngest of the sons given And now I give you just one more The youngest born in sixty four. Now Homer has the name of being cross He always wanted to rule and boss And when he spoke the fur would fly And all we smaller boys would cry Now Lou was differently inclined And would blarney us so we would mind But Laura would have her will and way It made no difference what others would say Now I am the one they all call Chart Never seemed to be very smart Easily coaxed and easily led But could not be driven with a ball of lead. Next come Talmia Round A better boy could not be found Then there was one whose name was Dick Who was always playing some smooth trick He became a real political gun And got a seat in Washington. Harry was for anything funny And married a girl with lots of money Fred was a bachelor for a want of a wife And played the fiddle all of his life he was not what you would call contrary And finally found a wife to marry. Now Flora Belle is the last of all She was pretty and large though not so tall. Now let us leave the old home spot And see what changes the years have wrought Now don't forget what I have said the youngest brother's name was Fred.
