Ringgold Record, Mt. Ayr, IA. At his home at age 76 yrs Mr. Willis Clemons, an aged citizen of this city , passed away Sat. morning, Jan 19, 1907. Mr. Clemons was born in Licking co OH, near the village of Homer, on May 10, 1831 and lived in that vicinity until he grew to manhood. He then moved to Washington co., Iowa and remained there for some time and thence moved to Keokuk county and thence to Marian co, where he lived for about 15 yrs, and then moved to Ringgold co about 9 yrs ago. He lived for several yrs on a farm just west of town and moved to Mt Ayr about 1 yr ago. About that time he had a serious fall and received serious injury to his person and since that time has not enjoyed good health. He was practically an invalid during the last year and for the last few months required constant care and attention. His children and friends were unceasing in their efforts to make his last days as comfortable as possible. He was united in Marriage to Cynthia Pierson in Indiana and soon moved to Washington co, Ia. There he owned the farm that afterward became noted as the Singmaster farm. He was familiar with much of the original history of the first settlement of IA and took pleasure in telling it. To them were born five children, three of who died in early youth. He leaves a wife and two sons, Mac and Henry of this city, to mourn his death. In temperment and manner he was quiet and reserved and cared little for the more formal displays of life. The funeral service took place from the M.E. church on Sunday Jan 20 and were conducted by Rev. A.B. Whitmer. From records of Joyce Morrell -------------------------------- Mt. Ayr Record News, 1928. Willis Mac Clemons, son of Mac and Etta Clemons was born Jan 11, 1900 in Mount Ayr Iowa and departed this life at the age of 27 yrs 11 mo. 26 days. At an early age he became interested in religion and was for several yrs a regular atttendant at the Christian Bible school, being a member of the boys class taught by Rev, D.C. Swan, and at the age of 13, during the revival meeting conducted by Robert Whiston, made a good confession, was baptised and became identified with the Church of Christ. He was united in marriage to Miss Cora Dickerson May 7, 1919 and the home was established in Mt Ayr. He was identified with his father in business for a number of yrs until 3 yrs ago when he became afflicted with tuberculosis, since which time he became constantly weaker. About 3 mos. ago he planned to go to Colorado in the hope that the climate might be beneficial to his health, but on account of his weakenened condition the plan was abandoned and for two months previous to his death he was bedfast. During the long illness he received the constant care of his devoted wife, father and mother and other near relatives, to whom the sympathy of the community is extended in the hour of grief. Surviving are his wife, and parents, two brothers; Loran of Byers KS, Joe at home, two sisters Mrs. Blanche Stamper of Diagonal and Mrs Minnie Frost of Mt Ayr.
