Gene Pierson BROWNWOOD --- Gene D. Pierson, 80, died Wednesday, October 27, 1999 in an Abilene hospital. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Benedict Zientek officiating. Burial will be in Burkett Cemetery, directed by Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. Mr. Pierson was born at Cold Creek, Colo., and married Winona Young in 1958 in Coleman. He worked as an artist and moved to Brownwood in 1970 from Coleman. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; two daughters, Thelma Jean Setser of Brownwood and Sarah Ann Agnew of Cisco; 21 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Winona Pierson, 92 Mrs. Winona Pierson, age 92, of Brownwood, formerly of Coleman, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2002 at 11:35 p.m. at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday), January 30, at Burkett Cemetery with Father Benedict Zientek of Saint Mary's Catholic Church of Brownwood officiating. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Home. Winona was born at the Young Ranch near Burkett September 29, 1909 to Thomas Young and Ann Babb Young. She married Harold Stovall and later married Gene Pierson in 1958 in Coleman. Gene preceded her in death in 1999. She lived her early life in Coleman and had resided in Brownwood the last thirty years. She was an artist, taught art in both cities and was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include one son, John Alex Stovall and wife, Jeanne B. Stovall of Dublin; three nephews, Roy Young of Burkett, Andy Dale Young of Coleman and Boyd Babb "BB" Young of Abilene; one niece, Lavada Young of Coleman; and many other relatives.
