Marietta Snakenberg SIGOURNEY-Marietta Snakenberg, age 70, of Sigourney, died Friday, August 19, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, from complicatons of a stroke following surgery. Marietta was born December 31, 1934, near Webster, to J.W. and Mary (Weber) Snakenberg and graduated from Webster High School in 1953. Following graduation, Marietta moved to Cedard Rapids, where she worked at Cherry Burrell. On February 7, 1957, she married Lyle G. Snakenberg at the Sigourney United Methodist Church. The couple lived in the Webster and Sigourney communities all their married lives. Marietta was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church and enjoyed her family and wintering in Arizona the last five years. Survivors include her husband: Lyle G. Snakenberg of Sigourney; two children: Mary Jean Goeldner and husband Dale of Chandler, Arizona and Bradley Snakenberg and wife Stacy of Olathe, Kansas; five grandchildren: Justin, Sean and Katie Goeldner and Hannah and Alexis Snakenberg; two sisters: Helen Lee of Webster and Mignon Dumont of Sigourney; one brother: David Snakenberg of Sigourney and her mother-in-law: Ruth Snakenberg of Webster. She was preceded in death by her parents and half-brother: Ray "Paduke" Snakenberg. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at the Reynolds-Powell Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2005, at the Funeral Chapel.
