According to the map I have (taken from "Sunlight On the Southside", see below) Chestnut Creek is in what became Franklin County in 1786 (Henry County was formed in 1777). Chestnut Creek is sort of southeast of the center of Franklin Co. The actual deed can be found on LDS film 0031966, Henry Co, VA Deeds Vol 1-3 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sunlight On the Southside by Landon C. Bell. Philadelphia, 1931. pp. 120-121. At July Court, 1750, the Court made the appointments of list takers of tithables, and defined their precincts as follows:... John Phelps, "from Falling River to Goose Creek" Nicholas Hayle (Haile), "from Goose Creek to the extent of the County upwards" ... pp. 135, 136. Lists of Tithes for 1750 List taken by Nicholas Haile # of tithes ----------- Amus Richardson 1 ... Benjamin Richardson 1 ... William Morgin 1 ... Abel Richardson 1 ... Thomas Morgin Thos. Morgin, Junr. Headly Smith 4 Luis Morgin 1 ... Copied 1995 by Dennis Nicklaus. Notes by D. Nicklaus, 1995: According to Appleton Morgan's book, Lewis Morgan's sister "Lettes m. A. Richardson". Here we have possible candidates: Amus & Abel. Goose Creek runs through the middle of what became Bedford County, VA. The listings for Thomas and Luis are adjacent. Falling River is to the east (in modern Campbell Co.) of Goose Creek, so it would appear that the Morgan family lived to the west of Goose Creek since they are in Haile's district.
