    3 November 1781
    LEWIS MORGAN and his wife CHRISTIAN and THOMAS MORGAIN
    and his wife (?) both of the state of North Carolina and
    county of Washington for the sum of two hundred fifty pounds
    sell and convey unto SAMUEL PATTERSON a certain parcel or
    tract of land being the plantation the said LEWIS MORGAN
    formerly lived on near the ford and mouth of Chestnut Creek
    bounded by ISHAM HODGES on the upper and a survey the said
    LEWIS MORGAN made himself on the said Chestnut Creek contain-
    ing 150 acres more or less.

Notes by Dennis Nicklaus. the spellings "Morgain" and "CHRISTIAN" are
as they appear in the publication.  According to the map I have (taken
from "Sunlight On the Southside", see below) Chestnut Creek is in what
became Franklin County in 1786 (Henry County was formed in 1777).
Chestnut Creek is sort of southeast of the center of Franklin Co.

According to Appleton Morgan's book, Lewis Morgan's sister "Lettes
m. A. Richardson". Here we have possible candidates: Amus & Abel.

Goose Creek runs through the middle of what became Bedford County, VA.
The listings for Thomas and Luis are adjacent.

Falling River is to the east (in modern Campbell Co.) of Goose Creek,
so it would appear that the Morgan family lived to the west
of Goose Creek since they are in Haile's district.
