George E. Colyer Jan. 7, 1930 - April 10, 1999 George Colyer, 69, of Salem died Saturday. Cause of death was unavailable. He was born in Brooks and owned a farm in the Brooks area and worked at a cold storage plant in Woodburn and for Boise Cascade, retiring in 1998. He was a life member of the Church of God and did volunteer work at Warner Pacific Christian College in Portland. He was a board member of Warner Pacific College Torchbearers and Gervais Telephone Co. Survivors include his wife, Rita, whom he married in 1951 daughters, Linda Boyer of Portland and Sandi Neal of Woodburn son, George of Salem sisters, Vicki Freeman, Louise Hollin and Barbara Cutsforth, all of Salem, Pearl Robins of LaPine, Nellie West and Bertha Johnson, both of Woodburn, Rowena Hovenden of Canby brothers, Orville of Sacramento, Calif., and Ronald of Salem seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visiting will be 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hoodview Church of God in Woodburn. Colyer, who died April 10 at age 69. Mr. Colyer was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Brooks. He farmed in the Brooks area, and was a warehouseman for Terminal Ice and Cold Storage and later worked for Boise Cascade Co. He retired last year. He was a board member of the Warner Pacific College Torchbearers, a group that raises scholarship money, and of the Gervais Telephone Co. He was a member of the church. In 1951, he married Rita Mae Morrison. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Linda Boyer of Portland and Sandi Neal of Woodburn; son, George A. of Salem; sisters, Vicki Freeman of Salem, Pearl Robins of La Pine, Nellie West of Woodburn, Rowena Hovenden of Canby and Louise Hollin and Barbara Cutsforth, both of Salem; brother, Orville of Sacramento, Calif., and Ronald of Salem; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
