E. L. MORRISON, AGE 64 DIES Elmer L. Morrison, age 64, of rural Sigourney died November 4 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He was born April 25, 1914, near Keswick, a son of Edward and Mary Etta Scott Morrison. He attended rural school near his home and graduated from Keswick High School in 1931. He married Irene Fairchild at Lancaster, Mo., June 9, 1937. He farmed 40 years in Keokuk county. He raised purebred Hereford cattle, was a member of the American Hereford Association and was involved in the ASCS program. He was one of Keokuk County's Master Swine Producers in 1951 and served as a Sigourney township trustee. He was a charter member and past president of the Sigourney Lion's Club. He helped re-organize the Sigourney Fire Department and was presently serving as treasurer. He joined the United Methodist Church Easter Sunday, 1939, and was an active member serving as trustee and a member of the official board. Survivors include his wife, Irene; one daughter, Mrs. Philip (Sally) Patton of Sioux City; two sons, Dr. Milton Edward Morrison of Friendswood, Texas, and Dan F. Morrison of Sigourney; six grandchildren, Eric, Brian and Andrew Morrison, Jody and Christopher Patton and Dan Jamie Morrison; Sisters, Mrs Clem (Ruth) Seiwert of Sigourney and Mrs. Harold (Ferne) Franklin of Iowa City; three brothers, Ellis of Millersburg, Roscoe of Des Moines & A. Raymond of North English. He was preceded in death by one sister, Hattie Wilkerson; three brothers, Forrest, Orville and Edward. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Sigourney with the Rev. Frank Greenwood officiating. Mrs. Charles Phelps was organist. burial was in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Arrangements were by Holm Funeral Home of Sigourney. Memorials may be given to the Sigourney Fire Department or the Iowa Lions Eye Bank. Publication unknown. Re-typed by Lyman Morrison, 1994.
