Forrest Morrison Rites Monday Forrest Morrison, 44, young farmer who lived west of Sigourney, died Saturday morning at 7:30 o'clock at the Sigourney hospital, where he had been a patient since June 8, suffering from a heart ailment. Mr. Morrison had been in failing health since last March 22. He was born at Creston on April 24, 1905, and was a son of Edward and Mary Etta Scott Morrison. When he was about one year old he came with his parents to Keokuk county and spent the rest of his life here. On January 17, 1928, he was married to Mary Theresa Shannon and they became the parents of six children. They started housekeeping on a farm southeast of Keswick, later moving to the South English and Webster communities, before moving to the Sigourney community 10 years ago. Mr. Morrison was a member of St. Mary's church here. He is survived by his wife: two daughters, Lois and Helen, and four sons, Merle, Lyman, Gerald and James, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Will Wilkerson of North English, Mrs Glen Sarvis of Sigourney and Mrs. Harold Franklin of Iowa City, and five brothers, Ellis of Keswick, Edward of Spencer, Roscoe of Adel, Raymond of Millersburg and Elmer of Sigourney. The funeral service was held at Saint Mary's church Monday morning, in charge of the Rev. James Mackin. Burial was made at West cemetery. Publication unknown. Re-typed by Lyman Morrison, 1994. Mary Teresa Morrison Dies Mary Teresa Morrison, 86, of Sigourney died Sunday, April 12, 1992, at Washington County hospital in Washington. She was born May 27, 1905, near Charlotte in Clinton county to John and Teresa Farrell Shannon. Her family lived on a farm near Hampton and moved to Keota where she graduated from St. Mary's High School in Keota in 1924. She married Forrest Morrison on January 17, 1928, in Keswick. he died June 25, 1949. She and her husband farmed near Keswick before moving to Sigourney in 1939. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Sigourney and Altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by four sons, Merle of Sigourney, Lyman of Riverside, Calif., Gerald of St. Louis, Mo., and James of Geneseo, Ill.; two daughters Lois Scurlock of Melcher and Helen Nicklaus of Lone Tree; 33 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and a sister, Regina Smith of Sigourney. She was preceded in death by her parents; five grandchildren; four brothers, Allie, William, Joseph and Urban; and a sister, Loretta Flander. Funeral services are today (Wednesday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney at 10:30 a.m. the Rev. Ernest Braida officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Pallbearers are Leland Morrison, Doug Morrison, Mike Morrison, Robert Morrison, David Nicklaus and Dennis Nicklaus. Memorials have been established.
