MORRISON, JAMES, farmer, Sec. 11; P.O. Aurora; born in the north of
Ireland August 7, 1841; he emigrated to America in 1864 and located in
Rock Island county, Illinois, where he remained for three years; he
then removed to this county, where he has since resided; he owns 160
acres of good land, under fair improvement; Mr. Morrison commenced
life a poor boy, and is indebted for his present high standing only to
his own energy, good judgment, hard work and a wife who is a help as
well as a companion, and is gentle and kind in her manners; they are
both highly respected by all who know them; April 17, 1872, Miss
Hattie, daughter of Thomas Morgan, of English River township, became
his bride; she was among the first born in the township; they have two
sons: Edward and Jesse; Mr. M. intends making stock-raising his
principal business.
