Funeral services for Virginia Miller were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. The Rev. John Reynolds Jr. officiated. The musician was Anedra Sherwood. Flower attendants were Delores Montgomery, Shirley Bartachek, Bev Creps and Opal Morrison. Honorary casket-bearers were Jevohn Miller, Shealynn Miller, Laynie Van Nevel and Ian Waters. Casket-bearers were Chad Miller, Matthew Miller, Brandon Miller, Jerrod Miller, Jeremy Waters and Deanna Waters. Burial was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Nevenhoven Funeral Services of Brooklyn was in charge of arrangements. Virginia Emily Miller was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Washington Township, Poweshiek County. Her parents were Frank and Emily Rutherford Taylor. Virginia attended grade schools in Poweshiek County and High School in Grinnell, graduating in 1940. On Dec. 4, 1943, she married Eldon Miller in Grinnell. They were the parents of three children, Arlo, Beverly and Delores. They began farming in Warren Township. In 1995, they moved to Grinnell. Mr. Miller died June 5, 2000. Virginia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn and a member of the C.W.W. Club for 64 years. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, crossword puzzles, gardening, farming and visiting with friends. Her parents; her husband; two sisters, Fern Koger and Irene Fleener; and three brothers, William Taylor, Virgil Taylor (her twin brother), and Calvin Taylor, preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Arlo and wife, Marilyn, of Brooklyn, Beverly Miller of Grinnell, and Delores Waters and husband, Virgil, of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren, Chad Miller, Matthew Miller, Brandon Miller, Jerrod Miller, Jeremy Waters and Deanna Waters; and four great-grandchildren, Jevohn Miller, Shealynn Miller, Laynie Van Nevel, and Ian Waters.
