MARY CRANEY, AGED 101, DEAD She was Born in Kilkenney, Ireland, May 12, 1823 A resident of Chanute twenty-four years, coming to make a home for her brother who died this year at the age of 99 Mrs. Mary Craney, 101 years old, died at the home of her nephew, E. M. Flannery, superintendent of the city's gas and water systems, 323 West Third street, at 8 this morning. The funeral services will be held in St. Patrick's church at 9 tomorrow morning. They will be conducted by the recter, the Rev. Fr. John J. MacInerney. Interment will be in Elmwood Abbey beside the body of her brother, Thomas Flannery, who died February 19, last, a week after his ninety-ninth birthday. Mrs. Craney's exact age was 101 years, 5 months and 11 days. She was born May 12, 1823, in the county of Kilkenny, Ireland. She came to the United States in 1839 at the age of 16, settling first in Illinois, then going to Clinton county, Iowa, where she was married to Thomas Reed. After his death she became the wife of Timothy Craney. She had lived in Chanute twenty-four years, coming here to make a home for her brother, whom she attended during an illness of several years. Since his death she had lived with her nephew and his family. She was the mother of five children, a daughter and four sons. The daughter, Mrs. Catherine McCormick who lives in Chicago will be unable to come here for the funeral because of sickness. The whereabouts of the sons are unknown to the relatives here.
