     Raymond Welsh, 55, of Cameron, Mo., former DeWitt resident, died early
     today in a Cameron hospital. He had been ill since Monday when he
     suffered a heart attack. The body will arrive late tonight at the
     McGinnis funeral home, DeWitt, where friends may call after 7:30
     p.m.  Saturday. Funeral arrangements will be
     announced. Mr. Welsh, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Welsh
     of DeWitt, leaves his widow, three sons, one brother and four
     sisters.

     Funeral services for Raymond Welsh, 55, of Cameron, Mo., former
     DeWitt resident, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday with a requiem
     mass in St. Joseph's Catholic church.  Burial will be in
     St. Joseph's Cemetery. Mr. Welsh died early Friday in a Cameron
     hsopital after several days illness. The body reposes in the
     McGinnis funeral home where friends may call after 7:30
     p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the
     funeral home by Rev. Francis P. Kelley. Raymond Richard Welsh,
     son of the late Richard and Estella McDonald Welsh, was born
     Jan. 27, 1905 at Petersville. He was graduated from DeWitt high
     school and attended Brown's Business college in Davenport.  He
     was married to Evelyn Mooney Sept. 4, 1934 in Grand Mound.  They
     farmed northwest of DeWitt for 21 years, moving to Missouri four
     years ago. Survivors are the widow; three sons, Richard, Charles
     and Gary at home; a brother, Leo of DeWitt, and four sisters,
     Mrs. Alice Burke of Chicago, Mrs. Leo Connell of DeWitt,
     Mrs. H.J. Wenzlik of Bremerton, Wash., and Geraldine of Iowa
     City. He was preceded by his parents.

Evelyn Welsh Hufman, 80, of Hayward, formerly of Welton and Grand
Mound, died Monday in her home.  The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday
in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt, with the Rev. Joseph Denning
officiating.  Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in
Schultz-McGinnis Funeral Home.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's
Cemetery.  Pallbearers, all grandchildren, will be Steve Lentz, Lori
Wagner and Kelly, Mike, David and John Welsh.  Honorary pallbearers
will be Eric Wagner, Sean Welsh and Louis Cohen.  Mrs. Huffman was
born Nov. 30, 1910, in Grand Mound, to William and Anna Cooper Mooney.
She married Raymond Welsh, Sept. 4, 1934, in Grand Mound.  He died in
March of 1960.  She later married Lafe Hufman, Feb. 12, 1966, in Rock
Island.  He died Sept. 4, 1974.  She farmed in the Welton and Grand
Mound area and was a member of St. Bede's Catholic Church in Hayward.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Welsh of Hayward, Calif., Chuck
Welsh of Libertyville, Ill., and Gary Welsh of San Jose, Calif., seven
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Donald
(Margaret) Dalton of Delmar.  Death date: Dec. 24, 1990.
