Bonita J. Burget, 82 MONTICELLO - Bonita J. Burget, 82, of McCalla, Ala., formerly of Monticello, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, in UAB West Hospital, Bessemer, Ala. Born July 20, 1931, in White County, she was a 1940 graduate of Monticello High School. On Dec. 24, 1941, in Monticello, she married Carl D. Burget. He survives. They moved to Alabama 16 years ago from Monticello. Mrs. Burget was a homemaker. She was a former member of Oak Grove Christian Church in rural Carroll County. She was a member of Woodland Hill Baptist Church and the Women Mission Union, both in McCalla. She enjoyed working with flowers. Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Myra Adler (Husband: Larry) of Golf Breeze, Fla.; and two sons, Larry Burget (wife: Susan) and Michael Burget (wife: Sue), both of Bessemer, Ala.; and a sister, Velma C. He had been hospitalized since March 7, and had been in treatment for mesothelioma cancer for 15 months. Born Jan. 28, 1927, in Chalmers, he was a graduate of Chalmers High School. He served in the Navy from 1945-46. He married Mary Alice Kennedy on June 24, 1951, in Brookston. She survives. They lived in Lafayette from 1951 until moving to the Brookston area in 1988. In 1977, he retired from Alcoa, where he was an accountant. Following his retirement, he worked in real estate sales with the Lux Agency. With his wife, he opened Burget's Loft Antiques in 1981 and they belonged to the Tippecanoe Antique Dealers Association. He enjoyed antiquing. He was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, where he was a deacon and trustee. He received a 50-year pin from Libanus Masonic Lodge 154. He was an avid golfer and had made a hole-in-one at Hanging Tree Golf Course in Westfield. Mr. Burget was employed with Westinghouse/ABB and ABB TRES for more than twenty-five years. Dale was a member of First Baptist Church.
