Francis A Shannon Francis Aloysius "Allie" Shannon, 75, died Friday August 22, 1975 at Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney. He had been ill since December 31, 1974, following a stroke. He was born March 20, 1900 at Charlotte, Iowa, the son of John and Teresa Farrell Shannon. Prior to moving to Sigourney in 1969, he had farmed in the Keota, Sigourney and Delta areas. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Sigourney. He married Margaret Ann Peiffer at St. Mary's church in Keota May 8, 1924. They were the parents of six children, Mrs. Keith (Cleo) Bryant and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Griener both of Sigourney, Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Louthan of Greeley Co., Mrs Robert (Ruth) Eldridge of Sigourney, Francis Eugene Shannon of What Cheer and Robert Joseph Shannon of Sigourney. Also surviving in addition to his wife and children are 25 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; two brothers, William of Keota and Urban of Milledgeville, Ga. and two sisters, Mrs. Teresa Morrison and Mrs. Regina Smith, both of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Margaret Bryant; a brother Joseph Shannon and a sister, Mrs. Loretta Flander. Funeral services were held Monday August 25, at St. Mary's church, Rev. Louis Mulligan officiating. Interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers were grandsons, Dan Bryant, Pat Eldridge, Jerry Goldman, Larry and Steven Griener and Mark Shannon. Honorary pallbearers were Nick Cassens, Armond Dunlap, Don and Bill Harper, Paul Garrett and Gerald Wohler Margaret Shannon Margaret Ann Shannon, 92, of Sigourney, died Thursday, February 10, 1994 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born January 12, 1902 near Keota to Paul S. and Margaret Buch Peiffer. She married "Allie" Shannon May 8, 1924 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Keota; he died August 22, 1975. She farmed with her husband in the Delta Community until 1969, at which time they moved to Sigourney. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Sigourney and St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by two sons, Francis E. of What Cheer and Robert J. of New Sharon; four daughters, Cleo Bryant and Dorothy Griener and her husband, Harold, all of Sigourney, Marjorie Louthan and her husband Dick of Greeley, Co. and Ruth Johnson and her husband, Jim of Delta; 25 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and one sister, Lorene Redlinger of Keota. Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were two brothers, Edward J. and Elmer Peiffer; three sisters, Bertha Adam, Veronica Shannon and Pauline Linnenkamp; one granddaughter and one Grandson. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 12, 1994 at 10:30 at St. Mary Catholic church in Sigourney, with Rev. Phillip Ryan officiating. Burial was in pleasant Grove cemetery in Sigourney.
