Obituary of Patrick Shannon Patrick Shannon was born in County Clare, Ireland on Feb.15, 1830, Where he grew to manhood and in 1850 he came to America, settling in Clinton county. In 1857 he was married to Miss Julia Lucey, who survives him. Ten children were born to them, Viz: John E. and Mrs. James (Mary) McDermott at Charlotte, Michael N. and Thomas L. in Washington township, Mrs. C. W. (Rose) Kenney of Hampshire township, Jerry V. and William J. of Chicago, Mrs P. S. (Bridget) Farrell of Davenport, Mrs Lewis (Julia) Skelley of Tina, Mo., and Mrs Harry (Frances) Smith of this city. At the time of his death he was 73 yrs. 2mos. and 21 days. The funeral occurred yesterday at St. Josephs church in DeWitt. A high requiem mass was said by Fathers Maher, Norris, Murray, and Riordan. R. L. Bourne, J. G. McGrath, P.L. Donnigan, R.H. Lane, T. L. Connole, and T. F. Murphy acted as pallbearers. Mr. Shannon was held in high esteem by our community, being a man of good character. The following brothers and sisters of the deceased were here from abroad: Mrs. Mary Lane and Mrs. Timothy McGrath of Clinton, Mrs. Ill of Rock Island, Mrs. Hines of Keokuk, Mrs. Vaughn of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
