Robert Shannon NEW SHARON - Robert J. "Bob" Shannon, 66 of New Sharon, died June 23, 2004, at home. He was born March 29, 1938 to Francis A. and Margaret Anne Peiffer Shannon in Keota. He married Barbara Johnson June 18, 1959 at What Cheer. He was a 1956 graduate of Delta High School and attended the University of Tampa in Tampa, Fla. He had been employed with Keokuk County Hospital at the administrative desk; had been elected to the Keokuk County Clerk of District Court; had worked a paper route in Colorado with his wife; had been employed with Robinson Press in the marketing department; was employed by the Ft. Collins Coloradoan; and ran a bookkeeping business out of his home. He returned to Iowa in 1987 and moved to New Sharon in 1988. Robert enjoyed surfing the internet, writing poems and fishing. He had taken several fishing trips to Canada with his son. Survivors include his wife; son, Mark and wife Laura Shannon of Loveland, Colo.; daughter, Megan Prueser and husband Bob of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Ashley, Dalton and Tyler Shannon; and four sisters, Cleo Bryant of Estes Park, Colo., Dorothy Greiner and husband Harold of Sigourney, Marjorie Ropp and husband Carl of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Ruth Johnson and husband Jim of Delta. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Francis Eugene Shannon; and an infant granddaughter, Allison Shannon. Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church, New Sharon with Pastor Phil De Boef officiating. Scattering of the ashes will take place in Alaska at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Sharon Ambulance Service. Harden Funeral Home, New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
