Boysen, age 86, of 1859 Mirro Drive, Manitowoc, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Eleanor was born December 12, 1916, in Lincoln County, SD, daughter of the late Ernest and Julia Devitt Tate. She graduated from Cathedral High School, Sioux Falls, SD, with the class of 1935. Eleanor was married to Norbert W. Boysen on April 23, 1936, at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Worthing, SD. He preceded her in death September 22, 1967. Eleanor was Clerk of Court for Rock County, MN, retiring in 1979. She moved to Manitowoc from Luverne, MN, in 1992 to be with her family. She loved playing cards, especially Bridge. Eleanor enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bowler and official scorekeeper for the National WIBC. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Karen and Deacon Alan Boeldt, Manitowoc two grandchildren: Lisa Schultz, Manitowoc Brent Boeldt, Manitowoc four great-grandchildren: Christopher (Sarah), Jennifer (Jason), Samantha, Tiffany one great-great grandson, Delaney, who was Eleanor's pride and joy three sisters-in-law: Mary, Charlotte, and Dolores. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert two brothers, Phillip and Laurence one sister, Maria. Mary was born on June 5, 1925 to Jess and Mary (Shannon) Boysen in De Witt, IA. Her family moved to Sioux Falls in 1931. Mary attended and graduated from St. Joseph Cathedral High School in 1943. On April 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to Eugene E. Carey at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls. Mary was an insurance underwriter for Fire Underwriter Inspection Bureau and Insurance Services Office for 38 years. She was also an insurance auditor for Iowa Mutual Insurance for 2 years. Mary was given the award of Sioux Falls Insurance Woman of the year in both 1969 and 1970. Eugene died on December 12, 1996. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, a 40 year member of Insurance Women of Greater Sioux Falls, American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Charlotte, Crooks, SD, Edna, Sioux Falls, SD, Dolores, Burbank, CA and Rose, Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers, Edwin, Norbert, Ambrose, Frank, Cy, Hoby and Jim; and special friend, Al Brown. Visitation will be Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a Scripture Vigil at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary.
