Charles William McDermott was born on August 12, 1928 in Petersville,
Iowa to his parents, James and Margaret Watters - McDermott. He spent
his childhood in Petersville and Charlotte and graduated from high
school in Charlotte.

Because of his deep Irish roots and love of his birthplace,
Petersville, Iowa, given to his children, Petersville has been chosen
as his place of burial.

He married Arlene Clark on April 20, 1965 in Oxford Junction, Iowa. He
served with the United States Army.

He had farmed for many years in Delmar and worked in the heat treating
department at Alcoa.  In Colorado, he owned a peach farm, and owned a
liquor store in Palisade, Colorado and when he semi retired he drove
for Avis. He is a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Palisade,
Colorado and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene McDermott, Grand Junction,
Colorado. Two daughters, Rene McDermott, Grand Junction, Colorado and
Kelly (Mrs. Ted) Stoner, Golden, Colorado. One son, Kevin (and Darla
Gilder) McDermott, Helena, Montana. Two brothers, Joseph (and
Caecilia) McDermott, Maquoketa, Iowa and Patrick McDermott, Delmar,
Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother -- Earl McDermott,
and a sister -- Ronalda Burnett.

Charles W. McDermott, of Grand Junction, Colorado and formerly of
Maquoketa died Monday, August 3, 1998 at his home at the age of 69
years, 11 months and 22 days.
