Charles T. Hanrahan Charles T. Hanrahan, 83, lifelong resident of the Charlotte area, died about 7:30 a.m. Sunday in Mercy Hospital, Clinton, after several weeks illness. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Assumption Catholic church at Charlotte, with Rev. John Kennedy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. The body will repose in the family home in Charlotte after 6 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. at the family home. Charles T. Hanrahan was born December 4, 1875 at Charlotte, son of the late William T. and Mary O'Toole Hanrahan. He married Monica McDermott June 7, 1905 at Charlotte, and she preceded him in death on February 25, 1955. Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Ambrose (Helen) McDonald of De Witt and Mary Clare Hanrahan of Charlotte; two sons, Edward of Clinton and Urban J. of De Witt; 3 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Monahan of Cedar Rapids. Clinton Herald June 1, 1989 Edward Hanrahan Edward J. "Pinkie" Hanrahan, 73, of Clinton died Tuesday in Mercy Hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Friday in Assumption Catholic church, with Monsignor Lawrence Soens officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was born October 3, 1909, in Charlotte to Charles and Monica Rose McDermott Hanrahan. He attended Charlotte schools and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Abelene Margaret McGrory June 29, 1938. She died September 15, 1945 and he married Debbie Gibson December 22, 1953 in Clinton. He worked at The Landing near De Witt, Albany House in Albany, and with Virtus Hanson in Clinton and was a member of De Witt Post 238 American Legion. Survivors include his wife Debbie, a brother, Urban J. (Red) Hanrahan of De Witt, and two sister, Mrs. Ambrose (Helen) McDonald of De Witt and Mary Clare Hanrahan of Charlotte. Burial will be in Assumption cemetery. The former Monica Rose McDermott was born September 10, 1881 at Charlotte to the late James and Mary Shannon McDermott. She spent her entire life in that community and taught in Clinton county schools for a number of years. During World War I she attended Mt. St. Clare college, Clinton and returned to teaching. She also was a graduate of Charlotte public school and attended Our Lady of Angels Academy in Clinton. On June 7, 1905 she was married in Charlotte to Charles Hanrahan. She was very active in Democrat party politics for a number of years and held several county posts in that connection. she was president of the Altar and Rosary Society of Assumption church. Surviving are the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ambrose (Helen) Mc Donald, Delmar, and Miss Mary Clare Hanrahan of Charlotte: two sons, Edward J. of Clinton and Urban J. of De Witt; Three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Fullan of San Francisco, Calif. and Mrs. Gertrude Brinkman, Blooming Prairie, Minn., and four brothers, James of Delmar, Luke of Charlotte, Cleo of De Witt and Leo of Omaha, Neb.
