Charles J. Kenney Jr. Charles J. Kenney 77, formerly of 245 6th Ave. N. died Friday in the V. A. Hospital, Iowa City, following a brief illness. The Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10: a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's church precede by a prayer service at 9:30 in Delaney Funeral Home. burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary cemetery where military rites will be held. Visitation will be after 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where St. Patrick parish will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday. Charles John Kenney was born November 18, 1895 in Lyons, the son of Charles W. and Rose Shannon Kenney. He married Agnes Doyle April 20, 1921 in Sabula. He was an Army veteran of World War I and was employed as a stationary engineer with the V.A. administration until he retired January 1, 1965. He was a member of St. Patrick's church and was active in the Democratic Party. He was a life time member of Humphrey-Paulson Post 2258 VFW, past post commander of the VFW and past district commander of the VFW. He was a member of the Wapsi Aerie 705 Order of Eagles and the June Van Meter Post 190, American Legion. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Union of Rock Island, Ill. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William J. (Rosemary) Thyme of Clinton, a son, Donald V. Kenney of Rock Island, Ill., 11 grandchildren: a brother Andrew Kenney of St. Petersburg, Florida and a sister, Monica Kenney of Port Sanilac, Michigan. he was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and two sisters. She was reared and educated in Sabula. She was married April 20, 1921 to Charles J. Kenney. A Clinton resident for the past 35 years, she was a member of St. Patrick's church, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church circles, VFW auxiliary and Women's Catholic Order of Foresters. Surviving are her husband, one son Donald V. of Clinton, one daughter, Mrs. William. J. (Rosemary) Thyme of Clinton: four sisters; Mrs. Henry (Esther) Trillis, of Sabula, Mrs Charles (Alice) Henricksen of Clinton, Florence Doyle of Sabula and 11 grandchildren.
