M Theresa Shannon Miss M. Theresa Shannon, 42, 1809 8th Avenue South, died Friday at Mercy Hospital. Mass of the Redemption will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic church with Rev. E. J. Weeg officiating. A Christian burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Schmitz Funeral Home. A Sacred Heart parish rosary will be held at 7:30p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Miss Shannon was born August 14, 1933 in De Witt, the daughter of Leonard and Rosemary Costello Shannon. She was a bookkeeper at Walgreen Drug Center in Clinton for 23 years, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Surviving are four brothers; Edward and Michael of Clinton, John of Mount Joy, Pa. and Richard of Indonesia; and two sister, Mrs. Darlene Kuehl of Clinton and Mrs. Patricia Judge of De Witt. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and sister. Clinton Herald July 17, 1976 Robert J. Shannon Word has been received by Mrs. Leonard Shannon, 1809 8th Avenue South of the death of her son, Specialist 4, Robert J. Shannon 20, who was killed Thursday in Vietnam in an enemy attack. Funeral services are pending at the Snyder Schmitz Funeral Home. He was born July 13, 1949 in Clinton, the son of Leonard and Rosemary Costello Shannon. He was a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School, and was employed at DuPont before entering the service July 7, 1969. He arrived in Vietnam December 31, 1969 and was an artilleryman with the 2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry. Survivors include his mother; three sisters, Theresa, and Mrs. Jack (Darlene) Kuehl, both of Clinton, and Mrs. James (Patricia) Judge of De Witt; four brothers, Richard of Denver, Colo., Michael of De Witt and John and Edward, both of Clinton. Clinton Herald May 4, 1970 Two Iowas Killed in Viet Two more Iowans have been killed in fighting in Vietnam. They were Spec. 5 Paul Kosanke, 21, of Eldora and Spec. 4 Robert J. Shannon of Clinton. Specialist Shannon, 20, was a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School. He was drafted in July, 1969, and was sent to Vietnam last December. He was killed Thursday. Specialist Shannon is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rosemary Shannon; four brothers, Edward and John of Clinton, Michael of DeWitt and Richard of Denver, Colo; and three sisters, Theresa at home, Mrs. Jack Kuehl of Clinton and Mrs. James Judge of DeWitt. ----------- Newspaper clipping received from Rita Keller, 1999.
