Cedar Rapids LOIS L. STERENCHUK Lois L. McDermott Sterenchuk, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday in her home. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with Bishop William Franklin officiating. Visitation will be form 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. She was born March 27, 1929 in Charlotte, to Cleo and Helena McDermott. She married Edward F. Sterenchuk March 31, 1951, in Petersville. He died in 1981. She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She had been employed as a registered nurse in the trauma center and became nursing supervisor with Mercy Medical Center for more than 40 years. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Sterenchuk of Cedar Rapids, and Michael Sterenchuk of Irving, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen (Pat) O'Donnell of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Christine (Kyle) Robinson of Marion; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Bill McDermott of DeWitt; and five sisters, Mrs. Mary (Joe) Ryan of DeWitt, Teresa McDermott of Orland Hills, Ill., Mrs. Ann (Xavier) Barrios of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Helene (Jim) Kane of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Josephine (Paul) McMahon of Cottage Grove, Minn. Lois was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church, St. Ann's Circle and VFW Auxiliary and was a Hospice of Mercy volunteer. Lois loved dancing, traveling and especially spending time with her family. Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
