Michael N Shannon Michael N. Shannon died at 2:15 this morning at his home near Villa Nova, the immediate cause of his death being heart trouble. Although he had been in failing health for several months, his demise was a shock to relatives and friends as he was in the city yesterday and celebrated his birthday. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at the Villa Nova Catholic church with interment in the Villa Nova cemetery. The deceased was born on a farm near here on December 3, 1860 and had lived all of his life in this vicinity. In May 1886 he was married to Miss Margaret McClimon, who survives together with four children; Mrs. Mary Boysen of Redfield, S. Dakota; John Shannon of Charlotte; Leonard at home; and Mrs. Alberta Smith of Clinton.. A son Edward and daughter Margaret preceded him in death. He is survived by a number of brothers and sisters. They are John of Harper, Jere V. of Savannah, Mo. William J. of Chicago, Mrs. Mary McDermott of Charlotte, Mrs. Patrick Farrell of Waterloo, Mrs. Lewis Skelly of Kansas, Mo. and Mrs. Harry M. Shannon, 88, died at 3:00 am today in her home at 533 3rd Ave. S. after a long illness Mrs. Shannon was the former Margaret McClimon, daughter of the late John and Mary McClimon, and was born October 3, 1865 in Washington township, Clinton county. She attended Our Lady of Angels academy and taught in rural schools until her marriage to Michael Shannon on May 18, 1886 in St. Patrick's church Villa Nova. They lived on the family homestead in Washington township until his death in 1929. Since then she has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Smith, 533 3rd Avenue S. She was a member of Sacred Heart church with burial in St. Patrick's church, Villa Nova. The body is in the Hanrahan funeral home in DeWitt, and will be brought to Pope Funeral Home in Clinton, where friends may call after 7 pm today. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Mary) Boysen, Sioux Falls, S.D. John J. of Davenport, Iowa; Leonard and Mrs. Alberta Smith of Clinton; also 25 grand children and 41 great grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Ella Dunleavy, Ethan, S. D. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1929, a son Edward in 1929, a daughter Margaret in infancy, two brothers and three sisters.
