May 1998 monthly newspaper, Orting, WA: Wesley S. Roper Wesley S. Roper, 84, was born on July 2, 1913, in Heber City, Utah to Howard and Louisa Gwyther. He died April 2, 1998. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Orting Ward. Mr. Roper was an engineer, worked at Boeing, and was self-employed in later years. Husband of Gwen (Davis) Roper of Orting, father of Steve (Nirupa) Roper of Florida, Pat (Chris) Roper of Wisconsin, Lynne Irelan of Mt. Vernon, and step-son Jay (Susan) Roper of California. Brother of Marden (Adrinne) Roper, Roberta Ostler and sister-in-law Lois Roper all of Utah. Also survived by eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Puyallup Stake Center, Sumner. Interment in Orting Cemetery. -------------------------------- Frances Leone Eby September 15, 1909 -- January 4, 2000 Frances Leone Eby age 90 died Tuesday, January 4, 2000 at Larchwood Inns Retirement Center. Frances was born September 15, 1909 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri to Lewis E. and Julia L. Shannon Skelley. She married Evan M. Eby August 3, 1949 and they were married for 49 years. She worked as an accountant in retail sales for many years and had lived in Missouri and Kansas before settling in Colorado. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include her grandson and wife, L. Andrew and Cheryl Davis of Independence, Missouri; a granddaughter, Becky Davis of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandson, Bryan A. Davis; great-granddaughters, Connie R. Davis of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary L. Wilson and Dana M. Davis of Independence, Missouri; brother-in-law Richard Eby of Grand Junction; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evan M. Eby; a daughter, Helen Jeanette Davis; and a grandson, William F. Davis. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, January 8, 2000 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Liam Courtney officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 230 North Third St., Grand Junction, CO 81501. She will be missed by her family and friends. He was born Sept. 11, 1942, in Magrath, Alberta. An executive in the broadcasting community, he was a 26-year resident of Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, Francine of Las Vegas; sons, Scott Adams of Mesa, Ariz., and Sonny of Las Vegas; daughters, Shauna Tucker of Mesa and Joanie Shumway of Bullhead City, Ariz.; father, Earl of Alberta; sisters, Barbara Davies, Lorna, Jill Wakefield and Patricia Dudley, all of Alberta, and Christine Roper of Cuba City, Wis.; and 14 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tropicana Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial is pending. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
