The Clinton Herald 11 March 1978 p. 8 Mr. WEINBECK Charles E. "Shots" Weinbeck, 70, 1701 S. 5th St., died Friday at the Alverno. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church with the REv. E.G. Weeg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Villa Nova. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Snell-Zorning Funeral Home where the Rosary will be said by the Rosary and Alter Society at 7 p.m. He was born July 8, 1907, in Clinton, the son of Charles and Mathilde Bohn Weinbeck. He married Evelyn Catherine Shannon June 18, 1927, in Rock Island, Ill. Mr. Weinbeck was a member of the moose and Eagles. He worked with the Clinton Fire Department and Climax Engine Co. He was a veteran of World War II. Volunteers Survivors include two sons, John Thomas, Canoga Park, Calif., and Charles E. Jr., Topeka, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Arlo (Henrietta) EBENSBERGER, Clinton, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and a daughter. (Date of death was March 10th. Obit published the 11th.) ------------------ Retires After 28 Years as Fireman Lt. Charles E. Weinbeck, a Clinton city fireman for 28 years, will be retired on pension May 22, according to city council approval Tuesday night. Lt. Weinbeck entered the department April 15, 1931, and has served continuously since except for 1 1/2 years in the navy during World War II. He is married and has 2 sons, Charles of Oelwein, and John, who is a patrolman in the Clinton police department. Following his separation as a civil service employee, Weinbeck will be employed in the offices of the Joyce Lumber Co. (publication unknown)
