Shannon-O'Gormann Wm J. Shannon, the popular salesman for the Two John's was married Wednesday to Miss Theresa O'Gormann of Chicago, the ceremony taking place at St. Columkill's church in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Shannon are now west on a wedding tour but will be at home to their may friends after December 1, at 524 Fifth Ave. Clinton Morning Age November 16, 1900 At St. Columkills church, Chicago, at high noon yesterday was solemnized the marriage af Mrs. Theresa O'Gorman of Chicago and William J. Shannon of this city. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. Murray, and witnessed by a large number of friends. It was a pretty nuptial event. The bridesmaid of the happy affair Miss O'Gorman, sister of the bride, J. V. Shannon, brother of the groom was best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served and reception held at the home of the bride. The newly wedded couple were the recipients of many costly and beautiful gifts, as tokens of the esteem in which they are held by friends. The groom is employed as head salesman at the Two Johns shoe store, and a young man enjoying a wide acquaintance, and a host of friends. His bride is spoken of as an estimable and accomplished young lady. The Advertiser extends congratulations. Mr and Mrs. Shannon will reside at 524 th Ave. where after December 1 they will be at home to their friends. Clinton Advertiser November 14, 1900 Will J Shannon W. J. Shannon 61, formerly of De Witt and Clinton, of Chicago, died at 9 a.m. this morning in Chicago, following an illness since Monday. Funeral services and burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Chicago. Mr. Shannon was born June 28,1874 in Villa Nova, a son of Patrick and Julia Lucey Shannon. He attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport and also the Clinton Business College and for a time lived in Clinton. About 35 years ago he moved to Chicago, where he has been identified with the finance department in city hall. His marriage to Miss Theresa O'Gorman took place November 14, 1900 in that city. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Arthur (Veronica) Phoenix of New York City and Mrs. Joseph (Bernice) Mooney of Chicago; a granddaughter Veronica Phoenix of New York City; two sisters and one brother; Mrs. P. Vernon, N. Y., and Mrs. Bernice Mooney. Funeral Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m., from late residence, 5000 Washington boulevard, to St. Thomas Aquinas church. Interment Mount Carmel. McDermott-Sewall Mary Collette McDermott and Thomas J. Sewall were married March 10, 1984 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. William McDermott of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sewall of Iowa City. Monsignor S. G. Menke officiated at the double ring ceremony. Matron of honor was Jean Rogers, sister of the bride. Other attendants were Anita McDermott, sister of the bride. Theresa Sewall, sister of the bridegroom, Jolene Whittemore and Cindy Donohue. Junior bridesmaid was Erin McDermott, niece of the bride. The brides personal attendant was Peggy Fitzpatrick, sister of the bridegroom. Flower girl was Sarah Hall, niece of the bride and the ringbearer was Nathan Whittemore. Pat Sewall, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man and groomsmen were Ron Donohue, Paul Svore, Pete Svore and Dave Nicholsen. Guests were seated by Gary Zimmerman and Jim Rogers, brother in law of the bride. The reception and dance were held at the K. C. Hall in Davenport. The bride is a graduate of St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, and her husband is a graduate of Iowa State University. Both are employed with the Davenport School System.
