Margaret (Lucey) Deegan as a young woman

"Lucey sisters." This photo was provided by Lucey descendent Monica Northcutt who states that one of the people here is Margaret (Lucey) Deegan. I believe the older woman on the right is Bridget (Lucey) Lovejoy.

Margaret was the last Lucey girl to marry. She was a midwife or home nurse of some sort. Margaret (also known as ``Maggie'') apparently took care of her mother, Bridget, when she died, and later took care of her father in his old age.

Margaret lived with her granddaughter Miriam (Wilhelm) Crouse until Margaret died and the two were very close. They had moved to Chicago after Henry Deegan died and lost contact with most of the Lucey family, except that Margaret would come back to Boone in the summers to visit family.

In the ``Lucey sisters'' photo, we aren't sure who all the people are. This photo was provided by Lucey descendent Monica Northcutt who states that one of the people here is Margaret (Lucey) Deegan. I'm not sure which one. My guess is that the older ladies are Margaret Deegan and her sister Bridget (Lucey) Lovejoy, based on the fact that these two families stayed in touch and comparing the ``sister'' on the right with the other photo I have of Bridget. The younger ladies are probably one daughter of each. But this is all just a guess.
