Harriet is described in ``A Ram in the Thicket'' as a plain unpretentious
farm girl.
Harriet lived with her daughter Mary and her family after T.Q. died. The
Robertsons left Harriet behind when they moved to Idaho in
1888. Harriet was living with her daughter Lucinda Sprague near
Esmond, SD when she died.
A poem on her gravestone reads:
As a star that is lost
when daylight is given
She had faded away to shine brightly in heaven.
Shirley Reed viewed the tombstone in 1998 and said the tombstone
with the dates appeared to be a little bit newer, and that there was
an older looking footstone with just the initials H.M., no dates.
But Shirley notes the tombstone is a tall marble spire,
probably put up no later than 1895.
