David's widow Emma, age 32, remarried on Jan. 16, 1890 to Jacob Mockenhaupt, age 44. That same day, there was a wedding of J.P. Mockenhaupt to Anna Baty, age 22. Apparently, it was a double wedding of brothers.
The 1895 Iowa census shows Emma with her second husband, Jacob, and David and Emma's two children, all listed on the same page in Keokuk County, Washington Twp., What Cheer Ward 2 page 976. (I only have this from an index, so I don't know if they are in the same household or not, but probably are.) The census lists Mockenhauph, Jacob, age 49, born in Germany with Emma (Mrs. Morrison), age 36, born in Iowa. (Mockenhauph is spelled differently than on the marriage records.) Also listed on that page are: Morrison, Albertus, age 18, born in IA; and Arthur, age 14, born in IA. That fits the ages of David's son named Curtis, age 3 in the 1880 census, and the Arthur who is buried in Johnson Cemetery. But obviously the name changes from Curtis to Albertus.
The 1900 census also shows David's remarried widow and son. In What Cheer, Washington Twp, Keokuk Co., is the household of J. Mockenhaupt, b. March 1849 in Germany, age 51, his wife Emma, b. Feb. 1857 in Iowa, age 43, and step-son Arthur Morrison, born Aug. 1880 in Iowa, age 19. Mr. Mockenhaupt immigrated in 1879 and was a naturalized citizen and a farmer. Arthur's occupation is given as Hostler, his father born Ireland and mother born Iowa. Emma has had 3 children, 2 now living, her parents born in Ohio.
One sheet earlier in the 1900 census, still in What Cheer was the listing for Bert Morrison, b. Feb 1877 in Iowa, age 23, again fitting the age of Curtis from 1880 and fitting with Albertus who was living with Arthur in 1895. Bert is listed with his wife (no name given), age 22, born Nov. 1877 in Iowa, and their son Willie D., born May 1898 in Iowa age 2. Bert was a farmer, born in Iowa, his father in Ireland and mother in Iowa (which fits David and Emma).
Best of all this evidence is the marriage return for Bert Morrison and Emma McArtor --- it names his parents as David Morrison and Emma Decker. Bert Morrison's obituary also states he has a brother named Arthur.
Emma J. Mockenhaupt and her son Arthur Morrison are also in the 1910 census in What Cheer. Emma is age 52, Arthur is 29 and single. It looks like it says Emma is widowed, and has had 8 children, 3 now living, which is a lot more than I have seen any record of.
