My BOWERS family is descended from the immigrant, GEORGE BOWERS, who came to Scituate, MA in Plymouth Colony around 1636. George had six children, three girls and three boys with his first wife Barbara SMYTHE, whom he married in England. After Barbara died, George married Elizabeth WORTHINGTON in Cambridge, Mass. and they had one son. My gg-grandmother, Clarissa Sophia BOWERS is a direct descendent of George amd his first wife, Barbara.

At this time, I am particularly looking for the parents and birth record for a gggg-grandfather, JOAB BOWERS, born in CT in 1765, around the Glastonbury area. He served as a Fifer in the Rev War, married Lydia HODGE in 1787, moved to Sullivan County, NY in 1788 and raised his family there. To date, I have been unable to locate a record either of his birth or of his parents.
