I'm a Rockwood too! I live in Seattle, WA. I'm very interested in knowing more about where the Rockwood name comes from? Any ideas? I've done census research and have traced Rockwoods to the New England area in 1790. However, in my direct line I've on
y been able to 1803 in New Hampshire where Roderick R. Rockwood married Eliza and had Frances M. Rockwood in 1841 in Illinois. Frances M. married Sarah N. and had Roderick Norman Rockwood in 1874 in Kansas. Roderick Norman married Clarissa Clemintine Wa
d and had Roderick Norman Jr. in Pateros, Washington in 1902. Roderick Jr. married Mabel Cottrell and had Richard Norman Rockwood (my grandfather) in Onalaska, Washington in 1923.
Any conections with your family?---I don't know where the connection between our lines is, but the Rockwoods have always said that they all trace from the same two brothers that came from England. The last name has changed over the years to include Ro
kett, Rucket and some others. I believe the name was Rookwood before it was Rockwood...there is a lot of history in England that I'm researching about the Rookwood name.---
