Story of Jeremiah Green's death
(as told to Helen Ruth (Jones) Crisman, June 1964 by her Great Uncle, Robert Carroll Nash)

Jeremiah Green was killed by Indians - this is carved on his tombstone. Indians had raided and stolen their horses a night or two before. Jeremiah was riding a crippled horse the Indians had left behind and he and another fellow, who was riding on a mule, were hunting for their horses, when the Indians attacked. The man on the mule jumped off and hid in the bushes. Jeremiah was scalped and killed by the Indians.
