Maloney-Cotter's mother's name was Mary. We know she had 2 siblings. Maher Maloney.
Any suggestions as to further research?

My Email: Email Me | Surname(s): Townsend |
Given Name(s): John | Year(s) Searching: c1800 |
Comments:
My wife's maiden name was Judith Townsend. The Townsend family is well documented here in Western Australia and in South Australia. Her great grandfather, John Townsend, died in Kapunda, South Australia, in 1875. He was born in Ireland c1800 and is first
recorded in South Australia in 1849.However, we can't trace his birth. We know from his marriage certificate that his father's name was Henry, but we can't trace him either. We know from research at LDS centres and on line that there were numerous Towns
nds in County Cork, but we haven't been able to link them with Henry Townsend and his son John, who may have been from Dublin. Neither John Townsend's South Australian marriage nor death certificate give a middle name. Nor do we have any record of the p
ecise date at which he arrived in South Australia, only that he was here by 1849, when the birth of his first child was recorded. He may have had a wife living in Ireland, because, although he had several children, from 1849 onwards, he did not marry the
r mother until 1865! This makes us speculate that he was not free to marry until then. Can you help? Best wishes, Edward Jones. syntax@eisa.net.au

Searching O'Brien (O'Brien/Collins); Lynch (Lynch/Haley); Sheerin (Sheerin/ ?).
All "hand-me-down" information refers to Cork, Kerry, and Tyrone, but no one knows where the information came from.
Anne Jane SHEERIN was born in 1839 in Ireland to Denis and Domina(?). Anne married Hugo Frings (or Frengs) in San Francisco in 1881. Their son Adolph is my grandfather. She migrated to US in about 1865.
Dennis LYNCH and Hannah HALEY. Dennis was born in Ireland August 1842, migrated to US in 1870; Hannah was born in Ireland in April 1843, migrated to US in 1864. Two of their sons, Timothy and John, were born in Massachusetts; James and Mary were born in
San Francisco. Mary is my grandmother, married Adolph Frengs.
Simon O'BRIEN and Hanorah COLLINS. We have no data on Simon and Hanorah. Their son John J. was born in San Francisco in 1884. He is my maternal grandfather.

Desire to know if it is possible that ancient celtic surnames derive from particularities from the families , words as high (ard)thin ,slender caol)and man( fear),can have formed a surname "ardcaolfear" or similar?.
An old familiar history, say that the surname Harrington originates of these words , since their members were thin and high and that then it was anglicized in Harrington .
Sorry for by my wrong english .
