It is my hope that by displaying this family tree you might recognize a common ancestor we share and contact me. There have been Genealogists in our family from way back when. I have always been interested in researching my family name but because of my busy work schedule I have been unable to spend much time at it. The vast majority of my ancestors listed in my family tree came from all over the United States and various parts of the world, but my research focuses more on the FERRELL Ancestors from TENNESSEE. Another area of interest is on the Engelhardt Family that immigrated to the United States from Germany.

Genealogies have existed since ancient times. Family lineage was originally transmitted through oral tradition and later through written records. Genealogies flourished in the Middle Ages because feudalism made status and the transference of possessions dependent on family lines. Since the 18th century genealogy has developed into a subsidiary discipline, serving sociology, genetics, history, and the law.
