Back to Ann Lewis's Table of Contents Archibald Jacob Anderson (1903-1995) The Theodore Turley Family Book, pp. 511-512 Archibald Jacob Anderson was the first child of Archibald Robert and Ida Roxanna Buehman Anderson. Following his graduation from local schools he entered Brigham Young University where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Finance and Banking. He did post graduate work at Utah State University. A.J. served a mission to Great Britain from 1925 to 1928, during which time he acted as district clerk of the Scottish Conference, president of the Glasgow Branch and president of the Aberdeen Branch. Following his release, he toured Europe for several weeks. Upon his return from his mission he engaged in farming and livestock business (sheep). He has continued this occupation to the present time. In 1933 A.J. married Eda Nash Parkinson in the Salt Lake Temple. Eda was a graduate of the University of Utah with a degree in Home Economics. She has also done post graduate work at Utah State University. Eda has taught school in Ogden and Fairview, Utah. She has been very active in the various auxiliary organizations of the church as a teacher. She has served as ward and stake YWMIA president. She served as Division President of the YWMIA which comprised four stakes. She has served on the Relief Society stake board. She is very active in drama circles. A.J. has served as ward and stake Sunday School superintendent and as stake teacher trainer. He was a bishop's counselor in the Fairview South Ward from 1937-1941. He served as superintendent of the YMMIA and has been a teacher of the M-Men and Explorers. He has also been a Boy Scout Troup Committeeman. He served on the stake High Council for three years and then was called to be second counselor in the stake presidency. In 1956 he was sustained President of the North Sanpete Stake which position he occupies at the present time. During this time he has been president of the stake High Priests Quorum, Vice-Chairman Sanpete-Juab Regional Welfare Executive Committee, Chairman Sanpete-Juab Regional Priesthood Genealogy Committee, Chairman Board of Directors of the Manti Temple Branch Genealogy Library and has been responsible for the organization of the Manti Temple Branch Genealogical Library which opened to the public during the summer of 1966. He has held various civic responsibilities which include serving as a Fairview City Councilman for two terms, Republican Precinct Chairman, and director of the Fairview-Birch Creek Irrigation Company for 15 years. He served as a director of the Sanpete Valley Bank for 14 years. He was a director of the Sanpete Valley Hospital for 6 1/2 years and at the present time is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hospital. He has been in great demand as a speaker at various church and civic activities. He is a director of the Fairview Museum of History and Arts. He has been a director and is now President of the District Church Board of Education which comprises North Sanpete and Moroni Stakes. Archibald Jacob and Eda Parkinson Anderson have one child, Virgina Lane Anderson Mower. |
