Jerry Jeffs Barker (1933-1990)

Jerry was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 11, 1942. He was a young boy when his family moved to Provo. He grew up loving nature. When he was about twelve years old, his summer vacations were spent working at Canyon Glen, a recreation park in Provo Canyon. He graduated from Provo High and began working as a welder for U. S. Steel. He married Charlene Louise Olsen on March 2, 1956 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. The Army then called him for his military training. It was peace time but nevertheless he was called overseas. He spent the next twenty months in Germany. During this time his marriage failed and he filed for divorce on returning to the States. He was honorably discharged in 1958. He found work in home construction, carpentry and building. He met and married Mae Nielson on May 6, 1960 with her bishop performing the ceremony. They have no children. His hobbies are building and flying model airplanes, bowling, archery, hunting and fishing.
