Theodore Turley Family Web Sites

Thanks to the Internet, we have some excellent material on Theodore Turley and his family. I am going to mention three sites which are worth looking into.

First is my own site, “The Theodore Turley Family,” found at  http://geocities.datacellar.net/wallygray25/turleyfam.htm

Second is Tami Thompson’s site, “Welcome to My Turley Family History Page,” at http://geocities.datacellar.net/hassell63/turley.html

Third is the Church’s Family Search site at http://www.familysearch.org/

Let’s review each one:

The Theodore Turley Family.

This site leads you to several brief family biographies on related family members including Turleys and Bushmans and others. I find these brief biographies very interesting. Some have been taken from past newsletters.

This site also includes access to our newsletter editor Ella Mae Judd’s excellent “Biography and Autobiography of Theodore Turley.”

The touching articles by John Romney Pyper (which appeared in past issues of the family newsletters) are reproduced. They are “In Memorium of Turley Family Members Lying in Unmarked Graves,” and “The Missing Clifts: Robert, Eliza and Emma Found!”

Extensive biographical information on Theodore Turley and his children and other family members is found in the “Letters from Dr. Joseph Soll Turley,” accessed from this site. Joseph is the son of Jacob Omner, son of Theodore Turley and Ruth Jane Giles. There is a lot of information in Joseph Soll Turley’s article that is difficult to find elsewhere. It is an interesting insight from one who is from another of Theodore’s spouse’s family.

This site also links you to my Theodore Turley pages with details on his five wives and families. To go to it, just click on Theodore Turley in the first line of the first paragraph. Also click on the Frances Amelia Kimberley site for information on her.

Books on the family are described with information on where they may be found. I have also included brief mentions of Theodore made as found in other places on the Web.

Welcome to my Turley Family Page

Tami’s site consists of photos of many of the Turley ancestors. She shows a photo of the Theodore Turley and Ruth Jane Giles tombstone in Beaver, Utah; the Turley coat of arms, and pictures of Isaac Turley’s families. She also includes brief comments on several family members.

FamilySearch

If you are interested in the genealogy information and temple ordinance data of Theodore and his family, you will be fascinated by this site. You reach information on Theodore Turley and family by going to the Search section. Just type in Theodore Turley in “All Resources” and you will come up with dozens of references. (For the purpose of this exercise do not type in any other information, just the name.)

The pedigree chart may be found in the Ancestral File section. Click on the April 10, 1801, listing where you can ask for the pedigree. It will also link you to all five families.

If you want the temple ordinance data, you must be registered and then can find it under the International Genealogical Index section. The many listings indicate that the ordinances were done many times!

There are several items on the family available under the Pedigree Resource File section which refers you to various compact disks giving the family data. These discs may be reviewed at your Family History Center. Items from this section were submitted by various individuals. Click on the submission source number, then click Search, and you will get a listing of all the names included in the disk for that family. There may be hundreds of names, and you can click on any of those names for more information.

Other listings on this site do not relate to our Theodore but to other Theodores.  That is  because we did not place any dates, places, etc. in our request on the Search page.

So there you have it. You will find other references by typing in Theodore’s name in a search engine.

Happy scrolling!
